I have been reading this series from the very beginning， and every book my biggest complaint has ALWAYS been about Carly being so nosy and not trying to hide herself to stay under the radar。 In this book， she FINALLY seems to be getting some sense。 HA！ The book starts out about a week or two after "The Lies She Told" ends。 So Carly and Marco are at the end of their convalescence after their car accident and starting to get out and about。 Marco goes back to work on desk duty， and Carly decides to I have been reading this series from the very beginning， and every book my biggest complaint has ALWAYS been about Carly being so nosy and not trying to hide herself to stay under the radar。 In this book， she FINALLY seems to be getting some sense。 HA！ The book starts out about a week or two after "The Lies She Told" ends。 So Carly and Marco are at the end of their convalescence after their car accident and starting to get out and about。 Marco goes back to work on desk duty， and Carly decides to get out and start being nosy again。 It doesn't work out like she thought it would， and in fact she eventually gets distracted by something new and heartbreaking。 This book distracts her from Todd Bingham， and into the frying pan with the Drummond Family drama。 Things escalate， new shocking information is exposed that I didn't see coming， Max and Wyatt are both doing things that she wasn't aware of， and Emily is still up to something that you wouldn't expect。 Carly and Hank go on the run， and then she ends up meeting with someone from her past for answers in Atlanta。 Carly and Hank discover something shocking from Bart Drummond's past and then they discover something even MORE shocking about someone close to them。 I can't say anymore without spoilers， but my jaw dropped at the level of evil this character was at， I never saw this coming！！！！The end of the book is a cliffhanger， I have to warn you。 I wanted to cry where it ended because I was so invested in this。 COME ON SPRING， I CAN'T WAIT！！！！This book packs a nice right hook that comes out of nowhere pretty quickly and keeps you jumping throughout。 I honestly think it is the best novel so far。 I highly recommend reading it， taking a breather afterwards， and then read it again to make sure you didn't miss anything。 It is that good。 I cannot wait for the next installment and am crossing my fingers for a visit from our Henrietta friends！ 。。。more

2 words: Page turner！ The 6th， and next to last， Carly Moore book won't leave you disappointed！ Deception is the name of the game in this book。 Carly finds herself still searching for dirt to bring down Bart Drummond and while she has lots of leads and information she's having trouble finding actual proof of his discretions。 During her search she ends up realizing that maybe she should be more worried about someone close to her and their plans and not just trying to bring Bart down。 Carly's gett 2 words: Page turner！ The 6th， and next to last， Carly Moore book won't leave you disappointed！ Deception is the name of the game in this book。 Carly finds herself still searching for dirt to bring down Bart Drummond and while she has lots of leads and information she's having trouble finding actual proof of his discretions。 During her search she ends up realizing that maybe she should be more worried about someone close to her and their plans and not just trying to bring Bart down。 Carly's getting closer to her end game， but not without quite a few bumps in the road first。 This book is more "dark" than others in the series， but I think once you read it you'll realize why it's exactly the way it should be。 I couldn't put this book down， especially once I got closer to the end。 I just had to know what happens！ Also if you discovered this series because of DGS's Rose Gardner books， you might just find a tiny treat at the end of the book。 I literally squealed！ This book made me love Hank more than I already did。 I have no doubts that DGS will deliver a fantastic finale with the next novel。 While we learned quite a bit of information in this book there are still questions to be answered and I can't wait to learn them！ Plus I can't wait to see Carly （hopefully） bring down Bart and her father once and for all。 。。。more

Betrayals and heartbreak abound！This was the most action-packed book in the series。 So many truths are revealed， and what some would say is a surprising betrayal becomes known， with some heart-breaking tragedies， as well。 I wasn’t really surprised when a character we have known since the beginning showed their （gender neutral to avoid spoilers） true colors， but I understand why it affected Carly as much as it did。 But I love how Carly trusts her instincts。 That is a sign of a strong and confiden Betrayals and heartbreak abound！This was the most action-packed book in the series。 So many truths are revealed， and what some would say is a surprising betrayal becomes known， with some heart-breaking tragedies， as well。 I wasn’t really surprised when a character we have known since the beginning showed their （gender neutral to avoid spoilers） true colors， but I understand why it affected Carly as much as it did。 But I love how Carly trusts her instincts。 That is a sign of a strong and confident person， and it is one of the reasons this series has been so enjoyable。 And while some things were wrapped up in the book， there are still several loose ends dangling， resulting in THAT ENDING。 Though not technically a cliffhanger， the ending is more than a mere hook to get us ready for the next （and last） book in the series。 I can’t wait to see how all the revelations in this story play out in the final book of the series。 。。。more

I don’t always stay up all night reading， but when I do it’s definitely for a Denise Grover Swank book！ Shades of Truth was amazing， and I absolutely loved it！ The deeper Carly digs， the greater the deception and betrayal is uncovered。 It is jammed packed full of action and mind blowing twists！ A lot is revealed in this book， but there is still more to bring to light and I cannot wait for the next release。 If you want a super engrossing and fast paced read， this book is for you。
